Fab Academy 2017
Over the last year the PANT18 team at IDC has been working to develop infrastructure and systems and plans to enable robust research and prototyping across Godrej & Boyce. Many of the Businesses have already made models and prototypes on some of the simple 3D printers we have set up in Plant 13.
Over the next 6 months my team will be running FabAcademy — a coursed based off an MIT course called How to Make (Almost) Anything. FabAcademy is a global course using video conferencing to run global lectures on everything from electronics production to machining to machine design, and uses local FabLabs [maker spaces, hacker spaces, workshops] around the world as the classrooms.
FabAcademy teaches students a wide range of prototyping, fabricating, and theory to enable them to be able to take up future, multidisciplinary problems. We all know that our product ranges are becoming more complex, that digital/IOT systems are penetrating our products and our production systems. This class is here to create experts who can take on these challenges themselves.
