- Rhino
- great surface modeling
- Check out Grahopper which is a free parametric engine for Rhino
- Check out Python Scripting which allows you to programmatically access nearly all of Rhino's capabilities.
- The Rhino Python Primer is a great place to learn how to use it, and to learn programming.
- Blender
- meant for animation, but has a ton of capabilities, and is free and open source
- FreeCAD - a little unstable, but allows for some parametric work and constraints
- Fusion 360
- CAD, Simulation and CAM in one tool.

- Adobe Illustrator - excellent Vector capabilities
- Inkscape
- good open-source version of Adobe Illustration.
